Basketball Game Preview: Wynne Yellowjackets vs. Batesville Pioneers

Wynne is 2-7 against Batesville since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wynne Yellowjackets will venture away from home to take on the Batesville Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. Batesville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Wynne, who comes in off a win.

Wynne's tournament run continued when they took on Maynard on Tuesday. Wynne walked away with a 55-47 win over Maynard. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Yellowjackets.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 51-23, which was the final score in Batesville's tilt against Cedar Ridge on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Timberwolves are ranked fifth).

Wynne's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Batesville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Wynne took a serious blow against Batesville in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 60-33. Can Wynne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
