Soccer Game Preview: Ridgefield vs. Columbia River

Ridgefield hasn't had much luck against Columbia River recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Ridgefield Spudders will square off against the Columbia River Rapids at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

Ridgefield barely beat Mark Morris the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Ridgefield's way against Mark Morris on Wednesday as Ridgefield made off with a 6-2 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Spudders' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, Columbia River had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They never let the Beavers get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Rapids, who have now won four matchups by three goals or more so far this season.

Columbia River pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Ridgefield, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2-1.

Ridgefield came up short against Columbia River in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can Ridgefield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
