Sheridan is 2-8 against Taylor since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Blackhawks will square off against the Titans at 5:30 p.m. Sheridan will be strutting in after a win while Taylor will be coming in after a defeat.
Sheridan is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Mooresville Christian 18-1 on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Isaiah Garrett made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sheridan got a massive performance out of Chance Spencer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Spencer is becoming a predictor of the Blackhawks' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-10 when he doesn't). Jack Oland was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Sheridan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Taylor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Frankton, falling 10-0.
Taylor saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Boothby, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Boothby's first of the season.
Sheridan pushed their record up to 6-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Taylor, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.
Sheridan was able to grind out a solid win over Taylor in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
