Soccer Recap: Bessemer City Comes Up Short

Bessemer City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Shelby Golden Lions, falling 10-0. If the Yellow Jackets were looking for revenge after losing 8-1 to the Golden Lions when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bessemer City's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Shelby, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Looking ahead, Bessemer City will square off against Ashbrook at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bessemer City has given up an average of 6.8 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for Shelby, they will challenge Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Shelby's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last three games.
