Softball Recap: Steele Canyon Takes a Loss

Steele Canyon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 11-7 to the El Capitan Vaqueros. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vaqueros apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Belle Will and Isabella Azevedo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Will went 3-for-4 with one triple and one RBI, while Azevedo got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ily Barclay, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Steele Canyon's loss dropped their record down to 9-11-1. As for El Capitan, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Steele Canyon will venture away from home to square off against Santana at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for El Capitan, they will head out to challenge Grossmont at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
