Blue Ridge dropped their record down to 13-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Show Low Cougars, falling 13-7. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Yellow Jackets, who until this match were averaging 3.78 runs allowed.

Brenton Newcomb was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Justin Carpenter was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

As for Show Low, their record is now 14-8. Considering they have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Show Low's side, Karter Alexander made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Alexander has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jonathan Mackenzie was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Easton Hatch, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
