Recap: Elkhart Wildcats vs. Deerfield Spartans
The Elkhart Wildcats came into Friday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They secured a 48-44 W over Deerfield on Friday. The win was just what Elkhart needed coming off of a 60-34 loss in their prior game.
Deerfield's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Colten Musil, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Cristian Botello, who scored 12 points.
Elkhart's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Deerfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elkhart will face off against the Indians at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Wichita County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Friday. As for Deerfield, they will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Southwestern Heights comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
