Baseball Game Preview: Hinsdale South Hornets vs. Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs

For the second straight game, Hinsdale South will face off against Berwyn/Cicero Morton. The Hornets will host the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Monday, Hinsdale South didn't have quite enough to beat Berwyn/Cicero Morton and fell 6-5. The Hornets have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

For Berwyn/Cicero Morton's part, Xavier Valdez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. Valdez has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on James Richmond, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Nathan Rubio, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in four consecutive matches.

Berwyn/Cicero Morton's victory bumped their record up to 7-21. As for Hinsdale South, their loss dropped their record down to 10-16-1.
