Basketball Recap: Chowchilla Tribe vs. Minarets Mustangs

The Chowchilla Tribe only won by three when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 28-point they dealt the Minarets Mustangs on Friday. Chowchilla breezed by the Mustangs at home to the tune of 64-36. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-10.

Chowchilla's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Deatherage, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Deatherage is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dellvonta Vaughn, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jabari Gomez, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Davis, who scored nine points.

Chowchilla is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for Minarets, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Chowchilla will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Parlier has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. As for Minarets, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Fresno Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
