League recap: Iowa tops Crowley to extend winning streak

3A District 4 recap Oct. 9, 2012

Iowa extended the longest winning streak in 3A District 4 this week by beating Crowley, 14-6. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Yellowjackets.

Notre Dame took down Jennings 23-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Pioneers take on Iowa. Notre Dame is currently in third, while Sean Richard's team is in first.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Lewis Cook's team takes on the Yellowjackets. The Pioneers have allowed 65 points this season, while Iowa has given up 68. Notre Dame allowed 0 points last week as it beat the Bulldogs.

South Beauregard made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,718 from 10,068. The improvement came about via a 28-7 victory over the Knights last week.
