Softball Game Preview: Oswego Panthers vs. Minooka Indians

The Oswego Panthers will challenge the Minooka Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Oswego will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

On Monday, Oswego earned a 6-2 victory over Yorkville.

Jaelynn Anthony spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Oswego got a big performance out of Rikka Ludvigson, who went 1-for-2 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Kiyah Chavez, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Oswego lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Minooka won against Plainfield North on Monday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Indians sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over Yorkville. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Foxes: they've now won four in a row.

Oswego pushed their record up to 14-0 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Minooka, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

Oswego was able to grind out a solid victory over Minooka when the teams last played back in June of 2024, winning 5-2. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
