Softball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

Chaparral extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-5 in the process. They came up short against the Medicine Lodge Indians, falling 11-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Indians this season, with their most recent loss being a 17-7 defeat two weeks ago.

Chaparral saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nackenzie Macias, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Medicine Lodge, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-6 record. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Medicine Lodge's side, Adalynn Cope spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emery Shinliver, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maryn Inslee, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Medicine Lodge beat Chaparral by a score of 18-8 later that day.
