Preview: Hubbard Jaguars vs. Dawson Bulldogs
Hubbard has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Dawson Bulldogs at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Hubbard suffered their biggest loss since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Riesel 58-30. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hubbard in their matchups with Riesel: they've now lost four in a row.
Meanwhile, Dawson took a serious blow against Bremond on Wednesday, falling 54-19. While losing is never fun, Dawson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 809th, while Bremond is ranked 188th).
Hubbard has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Dawson, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.
Hubbard lost to Dawson on the road by a decisive 38-23 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Hubbard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
