Volleyball Recap: Freeburg Midgets vs. Centralia Orphans

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Freeburg can now relate to. They fell just short of the Centralia Orphans by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The Midgets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Orphans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.

Freeburg was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Centralia work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 20-25, 25-20.

Defeat or not, Freeburg got some senior leadership from Ella Calvert and Olivia Isaacs. Calvert had 18 digs, while Isaacs had 17 digs. Those 18 digs set a new season-high mark for Calvert.

Freeburg has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 21-15 record this season. As for Centralia, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 21-15.

Freeburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Centralia, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Mascoutah on the 31st.
