Basketball Preview: Cesar E. Chavez Lobos vs. Heights Bulldogs
Cesar E. Chavez is 0-10 against the Bulldogs since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Cesar E. Chavez Lobos will be playing at home against the Heights Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Cesar E. Chavez comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last seven games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Last Friday, Cesar E. Chavez took a serious blow against the Cardinals, falling 72-18. Cesar E. Chavez was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-7.
Meanwhile, Heights got the win against the Tigers on Friday by a conclusive 32-11. The win made it back-to-back wins for Heights.
Jazmyne Gilbert continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 17 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Mira Johnson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Cesar E. Chavez has not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-18 record this season. As for Heights, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season.
Cesar E. Chavez was dealt a bruising 52-5 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs in their previous matchup back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cesar E. Chavez was down 36-3.
