Baseball Game Preview: Southwestern Warriors vs. North Laurel Jaguars

The Southwestern Warriors will take on the North Laurel Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. North Laurel took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Southwestern, who comes in off a win.

Southwestern was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Clinton County 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since May 6, 2024.

Chandler Taylor was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jonah Brock, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, North Laurel came up short against Corbin on Tuesday and fell 8-5. The Jaguars have struggled against the Redhounds recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

North Laurel saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Hinkle, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

North Laurel now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Southwestern, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Southwestern skirted past North Laurel 8-7 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will Southwestern repeat their success, or does North Laurel have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
