Basketball Recap: Emily Evan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kalskag over Akiak

Kalskag lost against Akiak last Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Kalskag Grizzly Bears fell to the Akiak Thunderbolts 47-42.

Kalskag lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Emily Evan, who posted 16 points. She has become a key player for Kalskag: the team is 2-1 when she posts at least 15 points, but 1-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Elizabeth Levi, who scored 13 points.

Kalskag has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. Akiak pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Kalskag does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Akiak, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Aniak at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Aniak will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Akiak surely won't give up without a fight.
