Basketball Game Preview: Champaign Central Maroons vs. Danville Vikings

Champaign Central is 8-2 against Danville since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Champaign Central Maroons will host the Danville Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Champaign Central took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 58-50 victory over Rantoul.

Champaign Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alex Parastaran, who posted ten points in addition to eight assists and five steals. Parastaran has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Samara McArthur, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Champaign Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Danville posted their closest win since January 25th on Monday. They skirted past Lanphier 41-38.

Danville's victory bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Champaign Central, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Champaign Central couldn't quite finish off Danville in their previous matchup back in January and fell 56-53. Can Champaign Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
