Basketball Recap: Jefferson Forest Gets the Win

Jefferson Forest waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They slipped by the Amherst County Lancers 48-47. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 52-37 back in December of 2024.

Hannah Hooper and Addie Kurko certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hooper posted 18 points, while Kurko went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Hooper a new career-high in blocks (two). Emmena Awanda was another key player, putting up four points and eight boards.

Jefferson Forest's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4. As for Amherst County, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson Forest has already played their next contest (against Salem), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Amherst County has also has no score uploaded for their next matchup, this one against Heritage.
