Softball Game Preview: Heights Bulldogs vs. Cesar E. Chavez Lobos

Heights has gone 8-1 against Cesar E. Chavez recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Heights Bulldogs will challenge the Cesar E. Chavez Lobos at 5:00 p.m. Heights will be strutting in after a win while Cesar E. Chavez will be coming in after a defeat.

Heights took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Wisdom 18-0. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bulldogs yet this season.

Sara Paniagua made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Heights got a massive performance out of Helen Maddux, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Maddux a new career-high. Flora Moreno was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .875. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Cesar E. Chavez fell victim to Clear Falls and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.

Heights' record now sits at 3-5. As for Cesar E. Chavez, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Heights was able to grind out a solid victory over Cesar E. Chavez in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. Does Heights have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cesar E. Chavez turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
