Baseball Recap: Mount Si Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Mount Si faced off against North Creek on Monday. Mount Si fell just short of North Creek by a score of 7-6. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Mount Si got a good showing from Jayce Riden, who tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Riden has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Tucker Koval and Chase Mentink stepped up to the plate in a big way. Koval went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double, while Mentink went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. Those three RBI gave Koval a new career-high. Jacob Flores also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Mount Si's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. North Creek has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Mount Si didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-7 draw against Newport - Bellevue on the 19th. As for North Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-1 loss against O'Dea on the 19th.
