Soccer Recap: Newton's Undefeated Season over After Nine Games + How To Watch

Newton was the 2-0 winner over McPherson when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Railroaders fell just short of the Bullpups by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Newton came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas soccer rankings (they are ranked first, while McPherson are ranked 60th).

Having lost for the first time this season, Newton fell to 8-1. As for McPherson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-4-1.

Looking ahead, Newton will look to defend their home pitch on Tuesday against Andover. As for McPherson, they will head out on the road to challenge Rose Hill on Tuesday. Rose Hill's defense has only allowed 0.3 goals per game this season, so McPherson's offense will have their work cut out for them.
