Basketball Game Preview: Vallejo Redhawks vs. Albany Cougars

The Vallejo Redhawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Albany Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Vallejo has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Albany will arrive with five straight victories.

Vallejo is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Salesian College Preparatory on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Vallejo was beaten by Salesian College Preparatory 85-26. While losing is never fun, the Redhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 705th, while the Pride are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, Albany posted their biggest win since January 30, 2024 on Saturday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 59-25 victory over Hercules.

Albany pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Vallejo, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Vallejo came up short against Albany in their previous matchup on January 4th, falling 52-40. Can Vallejo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
