Basketball Recap: Metro Academy Comes Up Short

Metro Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-58 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fort Worth THESA Riders. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Mavericks came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 87th in Kansas, while the Riders are ranked 480th in Texas).

Will Day was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds for Fort Worth THESA. That's the most boards Day has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Timmy Frank, who went 6-for-12 en route to 16 points and five rebounds.

Metro Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 24-17. As for Fort Worth THESA, their record now sits at 26-20.

Metro Academy has already played their next contest (against Aggieland HomeSchool), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Fort Worth THESA, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 75-58 win against Wichita HomeSchool on the 14th.
