Basketball Recap: East Providence Falls Short Against Ranked La Salle Academy

On Friday, East Providence faced La Salle Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The East Providence Townies lost to the La Salle Academy Rams at home by a 75-58 margin. The Townies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for East Providence and nudges their season record down to 8-8. As for La Salle Academy, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-2.

East Providence will take on Portsmouth at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Portsmouth's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for La Salle Academy, they will welcome Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 contests -- so hopefully La Salle Academy likes a good challenge.
