Menlo School is 7-1 against King's Academy since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. Menlo School will host King's Academy at 1:00 p.m. Menlo School's defense has only allowed 11.5 points per game this season, so King's Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Menlo School took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down Sacred Heart Prep 21-6. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Gators are ranked 349th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Menlo School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chuck Wynn, who rushed for 124 yards. That's the most rushing yards Wynn has posted since back in September of 2024. Merrick Ward helped out on the ground, rushing for 81 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Menlo School was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 210 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sacred Heart Prep only rushed for 88.
Meanwhile, King's Academy entered their tilt with Capuchino on Friday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They really took it to the Mustangs for the full four quarters, racking up a 37-6 victory. The Knights pushed the score to 30-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs had little chance of recovering from.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to King's Academy's defense and their five sacks. Drew Martinez refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by himself. King's Academy received some extra help from Nathaniel Vargas, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Menlo School's record is now 8-2. As for King's Academy, their record now sits at 9-1.
Saturday's game might be decided on the ground. Menlo School has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 178.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like King's Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 156.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Menlo School beat King's Academy 34-21 in their previous meeting back in October of 2023. Will Menlo School repeat their success, or does King's Academy has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
