Basketball Game Preview: Saluda Tigers vs. McCormick Chiefs

The Saluda Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the McCormick Chiefs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

While Saluda didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2024 than the 64-30 stomp they got against Ware Shoals.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led McCormick over South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that McCormick blew South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind out of the water with a 77-22 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Chiefs had established a 47 point advantage.

The victory (which was McCormick's third in a row) raised their record to 7-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Saluda, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Saluda came up short against McCormick when the teams last played last Saturday, falling 55-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of McCormick's Daruis Houston, who went 8 of 14 en route to 23 points and five steals.
