Softball Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss

Dorman hit Riverside with a five-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 6-5. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 8-1.

Mia Gallello spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

On the hitting side, Bella Lupinacci and Emma Manley stepped up to the plate in a big way. Lupinacci went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, while Manley went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Alana Spence, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Dorman, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Riverside will head out to face off against Mauldin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dorman, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Boiling Springs at 7:30 p.m. on the 14th. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Cavaliers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
