Softball Recap: Keyser Gets the Win

While Keyser's victory against Moorefield wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Golden Tornado sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Yellow Jackets on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Tornado in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won eight in a row.

Leighton Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mady McIntyre, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bibs Felton, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run.

Keyser's record is now 13-3. As for Moorefield, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

Keyser wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 10-1 win against Northern Garrett on the 22nd. As for Moorefield, they have also already played their next game, an 8-7 victory against Musselman on the 21st.
