Preview: Statesboro Blue Devils vs. Tattnall County Warriors

Statesboro has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Statesboro Blue Devils and the Tattnall County Warriors will round out the year against one another at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Monday, Statesboro didn't have too much trouble with Bulloch Academy at home as they won 64-48. Given Statesboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Bulloch Academy is ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Reya Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. The contest was her ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lindsay Johnson, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds.

Tattnall County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 24 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 65-41 margin over Long County.

Statesboro's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Tattnall County, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-5.

Everything came up roses for Statesboro against Tattnall County when the teams last played on December 2nd as the team secured a 66-38 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Statesboro since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
