Columbus skates past Rice Consolidated with ease

There's no place like home for the Columbus Cardinals, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They blew past Rice Consolidated 53-25 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Columbus has posted since December 12, 2023.

Columbus was led to victory by Anaya Gardner and Karlee Mathis. Gardner scored 16 points along with two steals, while Mathis scored 16 points along with two steals. Mathis hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Thea Schobel, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Columbus has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Rice Consolidated, they bumped their record down to 3-20 with that defeat, which was their 21st straight on the road.

Columbus will take on Yoakum at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Yoakum focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Rice Consolidated, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hallettsville at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hallettsville is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last nine games.
