Volleyball Recap: San Juan Victorious

San Juan took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Union, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Broncos won by a set and slipped past the Cougars 3-2. For the Broncos, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2023.

San Juan wouldn't go down easily and took Union into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-18, 20-25, 16-25, 15-10.

Averie Gilson was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 20 digs and three aces. Those 20 digs gave her a new career-high.

San Juan has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. As for Union, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, San Juan will square off against North Sanpete at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Union, they have already played their next game, a 3-2 victory against Grantsville on the 12th.
