Softball Recap: Florala's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Florala came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Pleasant Home Eagles with a sharp 18-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 11 games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Paige Musso and Ella Caraway made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Musso struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Caraway struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Musso has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. At the plate, Musso scored five runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Caraway fired off seven RBI, four doubles, and two stolen bases while going 4-for-5. Those four doubles gave Caraway a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maci Blount, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kiley Caine, who scored three runs while going 1-for-4.

Florala's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Pleasant Home, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, Florala will square off against Andalusia at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats are on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Bulldogs a five-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Pleasant Home, they will face off against Kinston at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
