Georgia high school football rankings: Colquitt County finishes regular season on top

The final regular season MaxPreps Top 25 high school football computer rankings are out with Colquitt County holding the No. 1 spot headed into the postseason. The Packers (7-0) open the AAAAAAA state playoffs Friday against Brookwood.

Colquitt County grabbed the state's attention earlier this month by smacking Lowndes 40-10. The Packers, ranked No. 11 nationally by MaxPreps this week, closed out the regular season Nov. 13 with a 41-0 shutout of Tift County.

Checking in at No. 2 is another unbeaten in Grayson (9-0), who meets aforementioned Tift County in the opening round of the AAAAAAA state playoffs. Clemson-bound running back Phil Mafah has rushed for 1,080 yards and 18 touchdowns this season for the Rams, who are ranked No. 4 nationally by MaxPreps.

A Colquitt County-Grayson matchup could happen in the AAAAAAA semifinals.
