Basketball Recap: York Prep Takes a Loss

York Prep suffered their biggest loss since February 16, 2024 on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 85-57 loss at the hands of the Asheville School (Independent) Blues. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading Asheville School (Independent) to victory were Heimir Helgason and Miki Gacic. Helgason posted 26 points in addition to six boards and three blocks, while Gacic dropped a double-double on 13 points and 18 assists. Helgason has been hot, having posted 19 or more points the last seven times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Deuel, who scored 13 points and seven rebounds.

York Prep's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6. As for Asheville School (Independent), the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

York Prep has already played their next contest, a 75-34 win against Buford on the 16th. As for Asheville School (Independent), they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-46 loss against Christ School on the 17th.
