Soccer Recap: Mesa Falls Short Against Ranked Liberty

On Friday, Mesa faced Liberty in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Mesa Jackrabbits fell just short of the Liberty Lions by a score of 2-1. The Jackrabbits have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Their goal came courtesy of Adrian Ortiz, which was the first he's scored this season.

Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Liberty, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Mesa's road trip will continue as they head out to face Ironwood at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. As for Liberty, they wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next matchup, a 4-2 win against Desert Vista on the 28th.
