The Waverly Vikings will square off against the Gretna Dragons at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Waverly comes in on three and Gretna on four.
On Saturday, Waverly made easy work of Northwest and carried off a 3-0 win.
While Waverly might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Northwest scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-21, 25-21.
Ansley Real was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had ten digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in September.
They weren't the only good servers: Waverly was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Gretna got the win against York on Saturday by a conclusive 3-0.
The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-8, 25-17.
Waverly better keep an eye on Lily Zimmerman. She was instrumental in Gretna's win, getting 18 digs and two assists. Zimmerman has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times she's played.
Waverly's victory bumped their record up to 29-5. As for Gretna, their win bumped their record up to 27-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's match: Waverly has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.4 aces per game.
