Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Escondido couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell 8-3 to the Mission Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Makaih Gonzalez was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Escondido's defeat dropped their record down to 20-8. As for Mission Bay, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Escondido nor Mission Bay have any future games scheduled.
