Game recap

Thanks to the stand out performance the senior now has nine touchdowns on the season.

After taking the lead on a Gerald Carr touchdown run in the first quarter, West Laurens (Dexter, Ga.) led 13-0 at the half.

The Raiders expanded their lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. West Laurens scored three times in the third, including once on a Carr touchdown run.

A 21-point third quarter helped WL secure the big victory. The Dexter school rushed for three touchdowns on the ground during the quarter, including three by Carr.

Led by Johnny O'Neal, the Raiders had given up an average of 14.5 points prior to the contest.

When the two teams played each other last season, West Laurens came away with a 41-21 victory.

The victory was a step in the right direction for WL, which was coming off a 31-0 defeat at the hands of Perry in its previous game.

West Laurens (4-3) goes up against Veterans in a AAAA Region 2 game matchup next week, while Howard (0-7) locks horns with Rutland also in a AAAA Region 2 game.
