Volleyball Game Preview: Oswego Panthers vs. Plainfield North Tigers

The Oswego Panthers will head out to challenge the Plainfield North Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oswego is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

Oswego is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Bolingbrook, who was ranked 21st at the time (Oswego was ranked 25th). The Panthers walked away with a 2-0 win over the Raiders on Tuesday.

While Oswego won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Plainfield North didn't have quite enough to beat Plainfield East on Tuesday and fell 2-1. The Tigers have struggled against the Bengals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Plainfield North sadly wound up on the wrong side. The final score came out to 25-17, 21-25, 25-23.

Oswego's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-9. As for Plainfield North, their loss dropped their record down to 14-17.

Oswego came up short against Plainfield North in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
