Softball Game Preview: Mahanoy Area Golden Bears vs. Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Red Raiders

The Mahanoy Area Golden Bears will challenge the Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Red Raiders at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mahanoy Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

Mahanoy Area will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Nativity BVM on Wednesday. The Golden Bears blew past the Green Wave 15-5. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Bears in their matchups with the Green Wave: they've now won four in a row.

Ella Connolly was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Allison Killian, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI and one run.

Mahanoy Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nativity BVM only posted a batting average of .263.

Meanwhile, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against North Schuylkill, falling 15-0.

Our Lady of Lourdes Regional saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arianna Adams, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Our Lady of Lourdes Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Mahanoy Area, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Everything went Mahanoy Area's way against Our Lady of Lourdes Regional in their previous matchup last Tuesday, as Mahanoy Area made off with a 28-12 victory. Will the Golden Bears repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
