Softball Recap: Bethel Comes Up Short

If Bethel was riding high fresh off their 26-7 takedown of Auburn on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bison took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Emerald Ridge Jaguars on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in March.

Penelope Smith was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Bethel has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14-1 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Emerald Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.

As of now, neither Bethel nor the Jaguars have any future games scheduled.
