Basketball Recap: Arlington Triumphs

On TuesdayArlington's undefeated season almost came to an end. They skirted past the Millington Central Trojans 67-64. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Trojans are ranked 136th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Loss or not, Millington Central got some senior leadership from Cody McGhee and Tayshun Bland. McGhee went 7 for 12 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds, while Bland made all 6 shots he took racking up 13 points and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McGhee has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Tyler, who posted six points and five assists.

Arlington's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for Millington Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Arlington Tigers duke it out with the Munford Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Millington Central, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Memphis Central at 7:30 p.m.
