Baseball Game Preview: Pine Tree Pirates vs. Kilgore Bulldogs

The Pine Tree Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Kilgore Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine Tree has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Pine Tree lost 15-3 to Kilgore on Tuesday. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Kilgore's part, Cason Edney made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Those three hits allowed gave Edney a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Joe Hendrickson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI and one triple. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kolton Hale, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Kilgore was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Kilgore's record now sits at 4-11-1. As for Pine Tree, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
