Recap: Williston Red Devils vs. Hudson Cobras

The Williston Red Devils put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They really took it to Hudson for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-18 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Williston, who have now won six games by 30 points or more so far this season.

Jace Mcdonald had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 222 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries. Mcdonald was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Javon Brown made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

The team's defense also helped out by holding Hudson to a paltry 236 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Williston's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out seven times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Timothy Taylor Jr. and his three sacks.

Despite the loss, Hudson still got an impressive performance from Anthony (Aj) Mcfarlane, who picked up 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Williston's victory was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32 points. As for Hudson, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Williston will take on North Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Marion will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 412th, while Williston is ranked 25th). As for Hudson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Anclote at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Anclote comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
