Basketball Recap: Mountain Pointe Pride vs. Chaparral Firebirds
Mountain Pointe was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Chaparral Firebirds and fell 67-32. The Pride lost against the Firebirds in their previous head to head back in December of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 66-63 score last time.
Chaparral's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendyll Dinh led the charge by going 8 of 14 on her way to 25 points along with six steals and five boards. Dinh is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaelie Weishaar, who went 11 of 18 en route to 25 points and eight rebounds.
Mountain Pointe's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Chaparral, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-5.
Mountain Pointe wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-20 defeat against Meade County on the 18th. As for Chaparral, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-36 loss against Horizon on the 17th.
