Basketball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Pendleton County's 12th in Last 14 Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Pendleton County had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They walked away with a 55-43 win over the Pocahontas County Warriors. 55 seems to be a good number for the Wildcat as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Pendleton County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Avery Townsend led the charge by putting up 17 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. Townsend has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Julia Mongold, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 15 points and three steals.

Pendleton County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points over those games. Pocahontas County moved to 15-5 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.
