Basketball Recap: Jonathan Clarke's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sunset over Miami

Sunset was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 83-62 to the Miami Stingarees. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 574th, while the Stingarees are ranked 15th).

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jonathan Clarke, who went 8 of 13 en route to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Clarke a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Luis, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 15 points.

Sunset's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Miami, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Sunset will challenge Keys Gate at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sunset is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season. Miami has already played their next game (against Doral Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
