Basketball Recap: Karlea Apodaca's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Menaul over Jemez Valley

Menaul lost against Jemez Valley back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Menaul Panthers took a 56-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jemez Valley Warrior. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Karlea Apodaca, who posted 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Apodaca has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Julie Robles was another key player, going 5-for-11 on her way to 12 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Menaul smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Menaul's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Jemez Valley, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.

Menaul didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-55 victory against Bosque on the 8th. As for Jemez Valley, they have also already played their next contest, a 51-15 win against Santa Fe Prep on the 8th.
