Softball Game Preview: Seymour Eagles vs. South-Doyle Cherokees

The Seymour Eagles will head out to challenge the South-Doyle Cherokees at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seymour has given up an average of 9.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Seymour proved they can win big on Monday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Carter 14-13.

The team relied heavily on Landry Terry, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Baelyn Brelsford, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Seymour kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, South-Doyle earned a 6-1 victory over Harriman on Friday.

Haylee Richards made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Richards was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Aleigha Bates was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Natalie Smithers also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Seymour's win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-6. As for South-Doyle, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
